A panoramic view of the mine. Now measuring 1-1/2 by 3 miles, it's the combination of three original mines, which is how it came to be known as the Hull/Rust/Mahoning mine. Hull rust -- isn't that a bad thing?


When you want to move this much earth around, you need large trucks. This one was powered by a 16-cylinder, 1600 HP Detroit Diesel, with not one but four turbochargers. Drive is diesel-electric. I wonder what the mileage is like? Ken stands in a bucket for perspective.
